Daniel J. McDevitt joined the Law Offices of John J. Dwyer, Jr., P.C. in 1996. He attended DePaul University College of Law after graduating from the University of Iowa in 1993. He graduated from DePaul in 1996 and was licensed to practice in both Illinois State Courts and Illinois Federal Courts. Dan was also licensed to practice in Wisconsin in 2006.
Dan has represented clients who have suffered serious personal injury and wrongful death since he was first licensed. Dan has handled and resolved a wide range of personal injury claims through mediation, arbitration, settlement and trial. This includes claims arising from car, truck and motorcycle accidents, premises liability and medical malpractice. In 2004, Dan was made a partner and the firm name was changed to Dwyer & McDevitt to reflect the partnership. John Dwyer retired on January 1, 2015 and the firm name was changed to McDevitt Law Offices, P.C.
Dan is a member of the American Association of Justice, Illinois State Bar Association and Illinois Trial Lawyer’s Association. Dan is also a member of the Million Dollar Advocate Forum, a group of trial lawyers with experience handling cases in excess of one million dollars in value. In 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011, Dan was named a Rising Star by Law and Politics and the publishers of the Chicago Magazine, a distinction given to no more than 2.5% of attorneys in the State of Illinois. In 2016 and 2017 Dan was named a "Super Lawyer" by the same publication.
Dan has appeared on television on the CBA program "You and the Law" to discuss the rights of pedestrians and bicyclists on the roadway. He is also written professionally on the recovery of damages from a bar or drunk driver pursuant to the Dram Shop Act.

Ronald W. Cobb, III joined McDevitt Law Offices, P.C. as an attorney in January 2014. Ron focuses his practice exclusively on personal injury and wrongful death claims in areas including automobile collisions, premises liability, product liability and medical negligence. During his time at MLO, Ron has successfully recovered millions of dollars on behalf of his clients.
Ron’s diverse practice has allowed him to quickly gain experience from intake through trial. Ron approaches each case with thoughtfulness and diligence, dedicating himself to working tirelessly to advocate for his clients. Ron’s approach has not gone unnoticed by his peers. In 2016-17, Ron was independently named an Emerging Lawyer by Leading Lawyers. Ron attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign before graduating from DePaul University College of Law. Ron is licensed to practice law in both the State and Federal Courts of Illinois. John J. Dwyer, Jr. (Retired- 2015) graduated from John Marshall Law School in 1981. During law school, he served as a member of the Law Review and participated in Moot Court. John began practicing law in 1981 for a firm which specialized in the handling of plaintiff’s personal injury litigation. During his first three years, he tried ten product liability cases to verdict. The cases involved fires/explosions which caused personal injury and property damage. He also tried cases to verdict involving medical malpractice, premises liability and motor vehicle accidents.
John founded The Law Offices of John J. Dwyer, Jr. in 1989. Over the course of his 32 year career, John has represented clients who suffer serious personal injury and wrongful death as a result of negligence. John has tried and settled a wide range of product liability cases including cases involving design, assembly or manufacturing of products and cases involving the failure to warn. John has recovered tens of millions of dollars on behalf of his clients through mediation, settlement and trial in cases involving car accidents, truck accidents, medical malpractice, premises liability, accounting malpractice and architect malpractice.
John’s work as an honest advocate for his clients continues to earn him the respect of his colleagues and opponents. He remains active in the legal community as a member of the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association and served as the co-editor of The Automobile Litigation Book, 2002 edition, published by the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association. The Automobile Litigation Book serves as a resource for personal injury lawyers and addresses many of the issues attorneys face when handling automobile negligence claims.
